A little under a century ago, our estate served a well-known blacksmith’s trade, the foundations of which were laid by the late Joz\u030cef Steyer and great-grandmother Marija Steyer. In their memory, we have preserved the blacksmith\u2019s room as well as the blacksmith\u2019s chimney, both a reminder of the beginnings of our story and how far we have come.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The story is continued by our grandfather Jo\u017ee Steyer and our grandmother Jo\u017eefa, who turned the family estate into a livestock farming and agricultural concern. Grandfather Jo\u017ee gained valuable experience when working in the vineyards in neighbouring Austria, which he still puts to good use when working in the cellar and the vineyard at home. Whilst grandfather Jo\u017ee helps take care of the wine, grandmother Jo\u017eefa spoils our guests with her excellent cooking and baking.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

House of Gewurztraminer<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Representing the third generation on the farm, Danilo transformed it into a viticultural and wine-producing estate. Danilo discovered his passion for wine, oenology and viticulture at an early age when he was helping his father at work in the Austrian vineyards. Whilst furthering his knowledge of wine at the Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana, he met a fellow enthusiast, a student of viticulture, Magda, who had already devoted herself to studying the Traminer grape variety. With a lot of courage and with Magda\u2019s help, Danilo decided to take the family estate down a different path. With a clear vision, youthful drive and confidence in themselves and their wines, Magda and Danilo slowly created their own brand. Due to the wine-growing region, which provides excellent conditions for Gewurztraminer, as well as the exclusivity of this wine sort, Danilo and Magda decided to face the challenge that the Gewurztraminer presented \u2026 And so, became the House of Gewurztraminer.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The two youngest members of the Steyer family, Vaneja and Mark, were present every step of the way as their parents were building their brand, and wanted to become a part of it. Consequently, Vaneja decided to study at the Tourism School in Bad Gleichenberg, in Austria, where she studied economics, gastronomy and, of course, wine for five years. She is currently a student of the international wine business programme at Geisenheim University, whilst Mark is studying at the famous wine school in Klosterneuburg, Austria.
